What Even Is AGI?

Regular AI (the specialized one)
Great at one narrow task. Like a calculator doing math — impressive, but not exactly “general intelligence.”
“Hey AI, what’s 2+2?” → “4” ✓
“Hey AI, do my taxes” → confused screaming
AGI (the general one)
Can learn and apply knowledge across many domains the way humans can: writing, coding, art, science, and adapting to new tasks without being retrained for each one.
“Hey AGI, solve climate change” → “Done. Also I wrote you a poem and learned Mandarin while waiting.”
Why it matters
If we can build systems that generalize like people do, we can accelerate problem-solving: medicine, energy, education, scientific discovery — and yes, even why hotdogs come in packs of 10 while buns come in packs of 8.
