Read a mathematical model
Learn to read the Atlas one operation at a time: symbols, valid inputs, scales, composition, and the meaning of a result.
THE CONSCIOUSNESS ATLAS
Read. Experiment. Follow the evidence.
Learn the mathematics, trace the AI builds, and read the evidence. One idea, one worked example, one experiment at a time.
New here? Start with the symbols. Every path stays open, so you can also begin with the topic you need.
Change the input. Watch distance from one turn into a score.
Teaching model · computed in your browser
Move the input, watch the distance from 1 change, and calculate the score yourself.
x is a real input and |x − 1| is its absolute distance from 1. The displayed domain is −3 ≤ x ≤ 5; the mathematical function is defined for every real x.
Try this: compare x = 0 and x = 2. Why do they produce the same score?
The default worked example is shown below.
Substitute, then simplify: U(1) = 1 ÷ (1 + 0) = 1. Equal distances on either side of 1 give equal scores. A score of 1 is a property of this function; it is not evidence of consciousness.
| x | Distance from 1 | U(x) |
|---|---|---|
| -1 | 2 | 0.3333 |
| 0 | 1 | 0.5 |
| 1 | 0 | 1 |
| 2 | 1 | 0.5 |
| 3 | 2 | 0.3333 |

Build from uncertainty to exact small-system partition search, then read the normalized MIP study with the right definitions.
See gradients move a state, investigate bad step sizes, and connect controlled updates to the project’s optimization records.
Follow components, memory, state, and revision history through the recovered SEFERIM, Rhiannon, and Pantheon records.
Turn a broad claim into a testable question, choose meaningful baselines, and read results without outrunning the evidence.
Practice gives you specific feedback, hints when you need them, and a way to revisit ideas. Your reading and independent answers are tracked separately.
Read a focused explanation with an example from the project.
Adjust a parameter, follow an update, or compare possible outcomes.
Check your answer and connect the result to what the evidence supports.
The learning paths sit alongside the complete recovered archive: 2,910 mathematical records, 292 builds, 77 generations, and 15 manuscript editions.
