Read the equation
The fractional part of the phase sum lies in [0,1); subtracting one half centers the bias in [−0.5,0.5). This formula differs from the arithmetic mean of phases in the earlier SEFERIM document. It has a discontinuity when the sum crosses an integer and should be kept as a separate version.

How it works
Read the definition from its right-hand expression to the quantity on the left. Its surrounding source records the intended input, state, or parameter context. Where the source leaves an operation unspecified, this page preserves that gap.
Assumptions & limits
Source recovery establishes that the expression appears in this record. Its mathematical validity, implementation behavior, and interpretation must be assessed separately. See the linked source and research notes for the checks available for this version.
Original context
Read the surrounding source passage
phase_Fib(t+1) = (phase_Fib(t) + 1/φ) mod 1 // [Eq. 81] 9.2 Combined Bias bias = fract(phase_DNA + phase_Fib) - 0.5 // [Eq. 82] flip = (bias > 0) ? 1 : 0 // [Eq. 83] 9.3 Gate Transition state[i] = ((state[i] XOR input[i]) XOR flip) AND 1 // [Eq. 84]
Exact original notation
bias = fract(phase_DNA + phase_Fib) - 0.5 // [Eq. 82]
Sources & provenance
