Compare / no code platforms

That AI Guy vs no code platforms.

Honest comparison. No code wins on speed of self serve setup and ongoing self management. We win on schema depth, AEO surface, performance, technical SEO, and platform lock in avoidance.

01Executive summary

Self managed versus engineer managed.

No code platforms are great for self managed sites where the operator wants to update content without an engineer. Hand coded studios are better for sites where technical SEO, schema depth, and performance matter.

The trade off is real. No code platforms have improved dramatically; Webflow in particular ships sites that look great. The remaining gap is at the schema and AEO layer where platform constraints prevent the kind of granular control we need for production AEO. For most small business sites that gap costs traffic; for some it does not.

03When no code platforms wins

When no code is the right call.

Pick Wix, Squarespace, or Webflow when you want to self manage content, you do not need deep schema or AEO control, the design surface fits inside platform templates, you want to ship in days not weeks, you have low traffic and content driven SEO is not a major channel, or you want full DIY ownership without engineer dependency.

04When That AI Guy wins

When That AI Guy is the right call.

Pick That AI Guy when answer engine optimization is a meaningful channel for your business, you want full schema control on every page, you have specialized vertical content (legal, medical, financial) where rich schema matters, you want to escape platform lock in, you need integrated AI features that platforms cannot ship, or design exceeds template constraints.

05Real examples

Where TAG was the right call.

A flooring contractor had a Squarespace site that performed well. We did not rebuild it. Instead we built a parallel SEO optimized static site at a different vhost (nwa.com) with full schema and AEO. The Squarespace site stays as the customer facing brand site; the static site captures SEO. Both choices serve their purpose.

A tax firm had a Wix site that was bleeding traffic because schema was incomplete and AEO was not in place. We rebuilt at \$997 hand coded. Traffic recovered within three months. The Wix site was the wrong call for a content driven niche.

06FAQ

Comparison FAQ.

Can you make my Wix or Squarespace site rank?

Sometimes via meta and content tuning. The structural ceiling is the platform itself. For sites where rankings matter we usually recommend rebuild.

What about Webflow?

Webflow is the strongest no code platform for SEO. We have shipped Webflow projects for clients who wanted self managed sites. The schema and AEO ceiling is still lower than hand coded.

What about Framer?

Beautiful design surface, weaker SEO and schema. Good for marketing sites; not where we recommend for content driven SEO.

What if I already have Squarespace?

Keep it for the customer facing site. We can build a parallel SEO surface (subdomain, partner site) that captures the search side without disturbing the brand site.

Can I edit the hand coded site myself?

Yes for content updates if you can use Markdown plus Git, or via the optional admin layer (Business OS tier and above).
